Mama Bug’s Busy Summer

If you’ve been wondering what’s been going on with me, well, I’m about to give you the basic outline of what has been up for myself.  Of course this summer has included day camping, fishing trips, vacation bible school, church, church camp, fairs, and regular camping.  Then I also have to include all the planning, organizing, and cooking for church events, parties, and family get togethers and events.

All of that is just too start the summer, and continue through the summer as well.  Now let’s add on a few more things I’ve been up to this summer.  I’ve researched a new school for the buggies, broke down school options then decided and had to follow through, browsing the house market, and learning new ways to adult.

Then you’ve got all the reorganizing of my house, packing charity things, helping friends, planning and organizing spiritual help and counseling, while receiving some myself.  Add in gardening, canning, a few more activities being packing, doctors and the like, and regular errands, then you’ve got my summer in a nut shell.

What is changing is some of the advice I’m testing, and that is changing me and my life for the better.  Keeping with the tried and true process, yes, I’m busy.  However, I’m building my content for you.  I will have mute new things more often for you, that I hope will catch your eye.

If you have any ideas or thoughts leave me a comment below.

Looking Back

Sometimes in life we take a look back at what we are going through and what has happened in the past.  And, as long as we are not living in the past, this is a great time to reflect.  Someone recently reminded me of a poem I’d like to share with everyone:landscape Sunset

People come into your path for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you know which one it is, you will know what to do with that person.
When someone is in your life for a REASON it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a dificulty…
To provide you with guidance and support…
To aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually…
They may seem like they are a godsend, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then without any wrongdoing on your part, or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die…
Sometimes they walk away…
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand….
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled…
Their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has now been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON.
Because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons.
Things you must build upon to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person, and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind, but friendship is clairvoyant.
Thank you for being a part of my life…
Whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime

God leads us in the direction we are meant to be lead.  Sometimes we wander off the path.  He tries to lead us back with the many different things.  For myself, I have a motto, I wouldn’t be who I am today without what I was back then.  I wouldn’t have what I have now, if I didn’t go through what I have gone through.  With all that in mind…good or bad, thank you to all the people I’ve had in the past.  Whether they were a reason, season, or a lifetime.  And, a special thanks to the lifers.  God knows you have your work cut out for you.

Blaze Bug, you are, as always, a wonderful inspiration.

Leave a comment below to share some of your experiences or even just to send a thanks to someone…reason, season, or lifetime.

Scatter Brain

Hello to all of you!!!  I know it may seem like things are a bit scattered.  It looks as if I have slowed a bit, and in all actuality I have a bit.  However, behind the scenes I have been working on a few things more.  Currently I have started a new Facebook page so it is easier to see, comment, share, and react to everything.  That way it is easier to come in contact here on Busy Buggies as well.  So, let’s spread the word and stretch our community out.

Then, I’ve started a forum for all of us to get a bit more specific in areas.  This way we can connect in more areas, and break things down even further to help each other.  You do need to register on the forums to participate.  They are also under construction, so bear with me as I go through and make them a bit more user-friendly and test them out as we go.

There are a few other things I have in the works, but as I am unsure of how long it will or will not take to get them off the ground, I’m going to keep them under my hat until they are further along.  With that being said…

What do you do when your brain runs wild with ideas?

When you have so many things going on in your head that you can’t stop thinking about anything, and it is stopping you from concentrating on getting things done.  So much so that you are literally running circles around your house and not really getting things done.  Does this really happen?  Absolutely.  Don’t believe me?  You should see my house right now!  I can really get going so badly that I get overwhelmed with what needs to be done, and what I want to do, as well as what I cannot do…  It is so overwhelming it can be debilitating.  Anyone that tells you differently has never experienced this.

When this happens it isn’t something you can control, so shutting it off, and picking a spot and going is just not a possibility.  Praying about it is my first answer, always.  Here I am…”Dear God, please help me to focus on getting my house cleaned, and help me figure out how I can figure this plan, and oh yeah, thanks for…and what do you think of….,”  So, even God gets an earful.  I’ve tried shuffling the children off outside so that I  can focus with out the, “mommy, mommy, mommy,”  My husband has taken the kids to the park for me to concentrate, and even this has led to me with a full notebook and only light housework done.  So, does this circle ever end?

What does it feel like?

When this happens, it is often said you should make a list of the things that are going through your head of the things you need and want to do.  Then check off the things you have gotten done.  So, you end up making a list that often is a page long.  And you may only check off a quarter of the page.  By the end of the day you feel like you haven’t accomplished a thing.  You look back on the day, and your house and think, where has the day gone, and how did not get anything done!!!  What DID I do with my day.OMG

Something I noticed.

Yes, I write my lists to help focus myself.  They do help.  However, it takes more than writing what is in my head at the time I write them, then checking it off later.  You also have to write down what you did that is not on your list.  So, you have your, “To Do” list and your, “To Done” list.  For instance, among my dishes, laundry, sweeping, vacuuming, writing, yard work, organizing, and other wifely and motherly duties I have to add in, fixing the neighbor’s T.V. and nebulizer.  Or walking down and checking out what that scary noise was for my friend in the middle of the night, while I’m doing my night owl cleaning or creative time.

Then you have to include how many drop in visitors you had during the day, where you had to entertain instead of clean or work on your other things.  How many breaks you took because you didn’t realize how much energy one thing would take and you over did it.  Or just because you overwhelmed yourself again.  Even because you are dreading starting another thing, so you took that extra cigarette break.

Another thing I do not account for, personally, is how long it may or may not take for researching something, or making all those phone calls to schedule those doctors appointments, arrange rides, find baby sitters, look for car parts for your husbands, and (of course) make the fun calls to the family members you don’t get to see often, so you are on the phone for hours wandering the house randomly, not doing anything, but doing everything in the process.

What to do?

Make that list.  The one that is a mile long of what is in your head.  It really is helping.  But, like I said, don’t forget to write your to done list.  You need to be sure that you are recording both what is in your head and what you have actually done.  Also, record what is going on in the day.  If you had 10 visitors, then write that down.  If you made 20 calls that day, write that down too.  Record the amount of breaks you took, but take that one a step further, and write down why you took that break.  Especially if they are smoke breaks.  Write down how you felt when you took those breaks.  You may be surprised at the end of the day, when you read what you wrote during the day.

Then, when all is said and done, at the end of the day, do your day’s end routine, and shut the lights off in your house, lock the doors, and DO NOT stand back and look at the mess left behind.  DO NOT dwell on what you could not get to.  Trust me, it isn’t going to grow legs and walk away.   Set that notebook aside, and leave it for the morning, and DO NOT think about what you did or did not do during the day.  Just worry about getting an actual good night’s rest for once.  You would be surprised what a lack of sleep would get you.  (Somewhere out there my sister is reading this and rolling laughing saying, “FOR SURE!!!”)

In the morning, after you have gotten ready for the day, when you sit down for your morning cup of coffee, and start your morning list, then go through it.  Look at how your day went.  Look at WHY your day went like that.  Then, when you write your new daily list, you can figure out why you are having that problem catching up with your brain.

It will take time.  This will never solve itself over night.  Also, there are plenty of times that medical help is needed.  DO NOT feel ashamed if you need to ask your doctor for help.  And, do not wait until you have a nervous break down to do it.  Things like this create extra unneeded stress.  Stress can do many, many nasty things to our bodies.  It does not make us weak to ask for professional help.  As I’ve said in the past, I am, in no way, a professional.  You should never take my advice over your doctor’s advice.  If this is a serious problem, please, GO TO YOUR DOCTOR!!!

All in all

Yes, I’ve been a bit scattered lately.  But not as much as you might think.  I haven’t forgotten all my buggies out there.  I’m working to make things easier to communicate, and hope to expand our community so we all can help each other and connect even more.  I’ve done this by creating new forums as well as a Facebook group.

Also, you are not the only scatter brained buggy mommy out there.  So, you don’t have to feel lonely or singled out anymore.  Hang in there, mama.  We’re here.  Leave me a comment below to let me know how you deal with some of your scatter brain issues.

Update and Updates

Hello all of you!  I’ve got some updates.  I know that it looks like I’m slowing down with my posts, however, there are things going on here, behind the scenes.  Planning, research, and of course, before I tell you about all these wonderful things, I am testing as I go.  I can’t say it is tried and true, unless I have truly tried it.

With that in mind, I am opening up a special forum to start a prayer group and bible study.  Create a further safe space to discuss all that we would like to discuss and move farther with saving souls.  My last post was about just that.  I’ve done a lot of thinking, and yes, I would like to start a bible study and prayer group personally.  However, that doesn’t work well for all of our friends that are too far away to join us.  Which brings me to another idea that can be done right away.

So, bear with me, as the forums are under construction, but please feel free to keep up with it as we go along.  And, feel free to join the fun.

What I’ve Been Up To

So, this past week or so, I’ve been mostly offline.  As many of you know, I haven’t been feeling well, so I have been following through with doctors appointments and the like.  However, finally, after a month of some very extreme pain, I’m starting to feel better.  And, this past week, I wanted to spread that feeling around again.

At church we have our missions that we give to support and help our local community.  I’ve been doing kind of the same at home.  For myself, I do enjoy helping others.  Sometimes I may not see the return right away.  But it really doesn’t matter in the end, if what I do or say makes even one person feel better, get healthier physically or mentally, or just plain improves life overall for that person.

So, the beginning of the week, after my husband helped a friend move to their new place, I was able to help put some things in place with his wife, whom is my friend.  I wasn’t muscle help what so ever, however, when you are buried in boxes and can’t even reach your kitchen to cook for your family, even the little bit I did was help.  Plus, I brought the coffee….right there is bonus enough.

Later, I was able to help my mother out, by preparing for her return home with her husband.  Again, it wasn’t much, but the ability to get off my couch to do just that little bit was tremendous to me.  Also, with the inability to do a full few hours of standing and cleaning, the fact that I could spend just short of that was wonderful in my eyes.

Yesterday, I helped a neighbor clean her floor, with my new carpet washer.  It wasn’t much, but just getting what I could off her floor will hopefully help her breathe better…literally.

I know, looking back, it really doesn’t seem like much in a week.  But, that tiny bit I did get to do took quite a bit out of me.  I’m not in the position to muscle though a day at home, let alone help others the way I’d like to.  However, God told me to get up and out of bed.  He told me to move….so I did.

How has God moved you, lately?

And God Gave Us Sun!!!

Finally, after a few weeks of fun new extreme pain, it started to break and work its way down.  Once we had a handle on all three things going on that is.  So, just as I was getting better, poor Daddy Bug went down.

Although he is getting a feeling of some of what I go though every day, I still wish it wasn’t happening to him.  And the cold weather was just making things worse for him.

But, this week we have final worked our way from the cold, to some wonderful weather.  And Daddy Bug even got the weekend off!!!  YAY!!!

So, this week and this weekend we’re enjoying fun outside time.  Yes, there are many things we could be doing inside, but sometimes you just have to stop with all the work and enjoy your family and the sun.

So, with that, here’s to a great weekend for everyone!!!
